Welcome back Dear Reader. Last Wednesday we discussed the first reason Christians cannot/do not read the Bible, that is: They do not know why we should to read it to begin with. Click the link to read all about it. 5 Reasons why you can’t study your Bible daily🙍
Today we are diagnosing the last Four reasons you do not read your Bible. I advise that you ask the Holy Spirit to point out the reasons that you relate to so you can pray and work them out.
The Second and Third reasons are entertwined you can’t read your Bible is because you do not understand some scripture and according to the Bible, we need the Holy Spirit to be able to understand and discern things of the spirit and the Bible is of such nature.
But the natural man recieveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned.1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to remembrance all that is said to you.John 14:26
Personally, I struggled to read the Bible especially those Chapters about Babylonia, or Lamentations 😩 and Oh God! Revelation used to be so frightening, I now realise that the reason behind this was that I ceremonially reading the Bible because I was raised at church, but my relationship with the Holy Spirit was barely there, I was reading out of guilt, the Teacher and the Helper was not there. So do you have the Holy Spirit?
The FOURTH reason you cannot read the Bible is iniquity. Dear Reader, living in iniquity will always draw us further from God and eventually from reading his word. This is deep…those who read the Bible should seek to be convicted of their sins so they can repent. If you’re not ready to let go of your sins you will shut down every voice that seeks to correct you this will eventually include your Bible.
The Fifth reason(s) is simple.
- You do not schedule time to read your Bible
- While reading your Bible app you find yourself clicking Facebook (you lack discipline).
- You do not highlight, and meditate what you are reading about.
- You do not make the effort to read other versions of a chapter as well as thorough research to maximise understanding.
I hope you realise that reading the Bible is not as easy therefore you need the help of the Holy Spirit…I pray that you open yourself up to his voice, and surrender yourself to him, Amen
